‘The Bare Necessities’ May 18, 1872. In "The Bare Necessities" the Punch cartoonist charges that love occupies a very small position in the minds and hearts of the Victorian nobility. These three young girls, in discussing their future husbands, have little to say about love but much to say about wealth.
